Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of mikwat.com. By using the site, you agree to them.
The website
mikwat.com is the personal website of Michael Watts. It includes a portfolio, professional background, blog, consulting information, and pages for related projects and apps. The site is provided for general information and to make it possible to get in touch.
These terms apply to the website. They do not, by themselves, create a consulting, employment, or other professional engagement. Paid or scoped work is governed by a separate written agreement if one is entered into.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the site in a way that is unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent
- Attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the site, its forms, or related systems
- Submit spam, malware, or content you do not have the right to send
- Scrape, harvest, or systematically copy the site in a way that interferes with its operation or that violates these terms
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation when contacting through the site
Access to the site or the contact form may be rate-limited, blocked, or otherwise restricted to protect the site and its operator.
Content and intellectual property
Unless otherwise noted, the text, design, images, logos, and other materials on this site are owned by Michael Watts or used with permission. You may view and share links to public pages. You may not copy, adapt, or redistribute the content for commercial use without prior written permission, except for brief quotations with attribution or as allowed by applicable law (including fair use).
Third-party names, marks, and materials appear for identification or commentary and remain the property of their owners.
Messages you send
If you submit the contact form or otherwise send a message, you are responsible for the content of that message. You grant permission to receive, store, and use it to respond and to carry on any related professional conversation. Do not send confidential information unless a separate confidentiality arrangement is already in place.
Apps and other projects
Pages describing apps or independent projects are informational. App Store purchases, licenses, and usage for those products are governed by Apple’s terms and any in-app or product-specific notices. Privacy practices for My Inventory Tracker are described in its privacy policy.
Third-party links
The site may link to LinkedIn, GitHub, social profiles, documentation, app stores, and other third-party sites. Those sites are not under our control, and we are not responsible for their content, policies, or availability.
No professional advice from the site alone
Content on this site, including blog posts and project write-ups, is for general information. It is not legal, financial, or other professional advice, and it is not a substitute for a scoped engagement. Outcomes described in case studies or experience summaries are historical and not a guarantee of similar results.
Disclaimer of warranties
The site is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, no warranties are made, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components, or that content will be accurate or current.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Michael Watts will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or related to your use of the site. To the extent liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid, if any, to use the site in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) twenty-five US dollars. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Except where prohibited, disputes arising from these terms or the site will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to that venue.
Changes
These terms may be updated from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of the page will change when they do. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised terms.
