Privacy Policy

This policy describes how mikwat.com collects, uses, and shares information when you visit the site or send a message.

Last updated September 11, 2026

Who this covers

This policy applies to the personal website operated by Michael Watts at mikwat.com, including the contact form, blog, consulting pages, and other pages served from this domain.

Separate products may have their own notices. The My Inventory Tracker privacy policy covers that iOS app. If a written consulting or contracting agreement says something different about confidentiality or data handling, that agreement controls for the engagement.

Information we collect

Information you provide

If you use the contact form, you choose to send a name, email address, subject, and message. Do not include information you are not comfortable sharing in email.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, this site is served through a hosting provider. Cloudflare may receive technical data such as IP address, browser type, dates and times of requests, referring URLs, and similar request metadata in order to deliver pages, keep the site available, and protect it from abuse.

Bot protection

The contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to reduce automated spam. Turnstile may process technical signals from your browser as part of that check.

How we use information

We use the information described above to:

  • Respond to inquiries and follow up on consulting, contracting, or other professional conversations
  • Operate, maintain, and secure the website
  • Understand aggregate traffic and whether pages are working as intended
  • Comply with law or protect against fraud and abuse

We do not use this site to run advertising, build marketing lists, or sell personal information.

How we share information

Messages submitted through the contact form are delivered by email using Cloudflare’s email sending service so they can be read and answered. Hosting, analytics, bot protection, and email delivery are provided by Cloudflare, which processes data as needed to provide those services.

The site also loads fonts and front-end libraries from third-party CDNs (currently Google Fonts and jsDelivr). Those providers may receive your IP address and standard browser request data when your browser fetches those files.

We may disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a transfer of this site or related professional practice. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Cookies, analytics, and similar technologies

This site does not set first-party advertising cookies. Cloudflare Web Analytics is used to collect aggregate usage metrics. Cloudflare describes that product as not using cookies or local storage to collect those metrics and as not fingerprinting individuals for analytics.

Cloudflare Turnstile and other Cloudflare features may use cookies or similar storage as needed for security and to operate the network. Your browser may also store files from third-party CDNs according to those providers’ own policies.

Retention

Contact messages are kept as long as needed to respond, keep a record of the conversation, and handle any related professional or legal obligations. Technical logs are retained according to the hosting provider’s practices and any configuration used to operate the site. This site does not create user accounts.

Your choices and rights

You can choose not to submit the contact form. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information, or to object to certain processing. To make a request, use the contact form or another address we have used to communicate with you.

We may need to verify the request and may retain limited information as required by law or for legitimate records, such as completed professional correspondence.

Children

This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information, please contact us so it can be deleted.

Third-party sites

Pages on this site may link to other websites, profiles, or app stores. Those destinations have their own privacy practices. This policy does not cover them.

Changes

This policy may be updated from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of the page will change when it does. Continued use of the site after an update means the revised policy applies to that use.

Contact

Questions about this policy can be sent through the contact page. Related terms for using the site are in the Terms of Service.
